Note from DCM
Scott, Area 51 Accessibility Coordinator will be our guest. He will be telling us about the activities occurring at the Area level and resources for an Accessibility Coordinator at the District and Group levels. District 60 does not currently have an Accessibility Coordinator.
Elizabeth and I attended the Summer Committee meeting. This was a meeting of A51 Officers, Coordinators, DCMs, and ADCMs along with past delegates and trustees. The main purpose of the meeting was to set the agenda for the next Assembly.
A motion to change Article III of the Conference Charter will be presented at the Fall Area Assembly for discussion. To help GSR’s and their groups be informed, I plan to present information, discuss Article III, then related certain AA Concepts to this issue. Please see Concepts under GSR role in the District GSR Guidebook (attached). I am keeping the motion off the agenda right now, as I feel it is important to understand the current practice, then consider how the proposed motion changes Article III. See Service Manual Link, page 123 – Conference Charter.
If we have time after the Accessibility and Conference Charter presentations, then we will receive oral Coordinator Reports. Anticipating a tight schedule, I have only allocated time to CPC/PI based on current District activity. If we do not hear from other Coordinators, their reports will be included in the September ZOOM Meeting minutes.
Other Housekeeping Items
- Please keep participating in your assigned District Guidelines Subcommittee’s. Your participation is vital as we had two years using these guidelines. Before the GSR’s rotate, it is important that we take one last review of the guidelines to see if there are any minor or major adjustments that need to be made. I know that finance has already met once and presented me with lots of clarifying questions. They will be meeting again.
- Subcommittees were given two months to meet as many times as necessary. Some Subcommittees might take one, two, or even three meetings before we have motions to present at our October in-person meeting.
- October In-person business meeting: We will be voting on district guideline motions from the subcommittees, reviewing and practicing Third Legacy process in preparation of the Fall Election Assembly, and then clarifying any questions from your group business meetings regarding AA Conference Charter Article III.
- D60 will be hosting a Workshop on Unity in AA with GSR’s Liz, Laurie, Bill, and Past Trustee Newton. I am excited to hear their experience strength and hope. Food and beverages will be provided. Thank you Craven County Group for allowing us to use their space.
- SERF is Sept. 18th – 20th. If you are unable to attend the whole event, hopefully you can drive up for the day on Saturday. I am including the Beaming Beacon that has information about SERF.
- I am including the Advance Notice for the Fall Assembly in Raleigh. If you have not already done so, please book now. A51 has already asked to expand the room block for the Assembly. We may not get another expansion once the room block is sold out. You will not need to be there on Friday night. Thus, you will need to EDIT the stay information from 6th-8th changed to 7th-8th.
- I have received a GSR sponsorship room request for the Fall Assembly. I have booked a room for Saturday, Nov. 7th.
